Dear fans and readers. The Quentin Tarantino Archives’ redesign went without major screw-ups, as you can see (please report any technical problems you have. there are a few things we need to fix, but we’re working on it), and we’re rockin’ and rollin’ now. This weekend, we have also completely redesigned our latest sister website, The Deuce (www.grindhousedatabase.com), which should fulfill all your exploitation film needs. You just have to check it out, it is probably THE up and coming project. Of course, The Spaghetti Western Database, Quentin’s favorite website, is still flourishing as well. We will try to increase the frequency of news items about QT at this place, so please don’t mind the previous few posts which have been rather slightly off-topic. Personally, I am currently working on finding a way to pay for a trip down to Almeria, Spain (see Peter’s previous post) to meet Mr Tarantino at three screening of the best Spaghetti Westerns ever made. We will of course provide the most awesome coverage of that event, in case I make it down there, donations welcome ;-)

“Every summer, the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema takes to the road, departing from Austin, Texas on a whirlwind tour and hosting free 35mm screenings of famous movies in famous places. Known as The Rolling Roadshow Tour (click for all the information), it has been to the Field of Dreams in Iowa to show Field of Dreams with Kevin Costner live in person, Devil’s Tower in Wyoming for a screening of Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind and Alcatraz Island for a screening of Escape From Alcatraz. Students of our Kill Bill movie references guide (which will be getting an overhaul pretty soon, we promise!) will know, that one of the pivotal influences on Tarantino’s filmmaking are Spaghetti Westerns. One of them, or should I say one of the most famous, is getting a DVD release in the United States next week. Navajo Joe starring Burt Reynolds, directed by “the other Sergio” Sergio Corbucci. It’s hard to believe its been 15 years since True Romance was released. I still remember seeing the commercials for it on TV and feeling that I just had to go see it. Before I knew QT wrote it, it was the amazing cast that initially got me interested. When I went to the theater to see the movie, I had what I like to call “The 5 Minute Sensation”: I knew in the first 5 minutes that I was going to love the movie (usually a rare thing). It’s been one of my favorites ever since and even though it was directed by Tony Scott, its still regarded as a QT movie by his fans. Read more…

Actually this is a blog, too, but I want to keep this as much news-related as possible. But The Quentin Tarantino Archives has a real blog as well. One, that goes beyond and below news, dives into gossip, does commentary, or just generally banters… and mostly that’s just me writing. But I plan on improving it as I get more feedback on it. And when I know people read it, it might motivate me to work on it even more. So I invite you all to head over to the Tarantino Archives Blog and check it out, then SEND your feedback. Enjoy!
